Renewal appointments have reopened for residence permits that expired from 1/12/2019 until 30/6/2020

As of today Wednesday 21/10/2020, those with residence permits which expired exclusively in the period from 1/12/2019 to 30/6/2020 can now schedule an appointment to renew their residence permit through the electronic application for third country nationals (e-appointment) of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum.

According to the announcement of the Immigration Services of the Decentralized Administrations of Attica, the possibility of scheduling the appointment for the permits that expired within this specific period will be available from 26/10/2020 to 31/1/2021.

When the booking of appointments for the renewal of residence permits started operating via the platform on July 31, due to the lack of planning and prioritization of renewals of residence permits based on their expiration date, it was to be expected that the available appointments would run out fast, at least in Attica. Thus, this news is a positive development for those who were unable to secure a renewal appointment in the services of Attica.

Attention: If your residence permit expires after 30/6/2020 the system will not allow you to book a renewal appointment and will display the following message (in greek): The reserving of a date for the renewal of the residence permit is not possible earlier than 2 months before its expiration or before the expiration of the automatic validity extension.

Please be reminded that:

  • All residence permits and residence permit application certificates (blue certificate) that expired up until 30 June 2020, have been extended until December 31, 2020.
  • All residence permits and residence permit application certificates (blue certificate) that expired or will expire between 20 July 2020 to 31 December 2020, have been extended for 8 months from their expiration date.
  • For the residence permits that expired between 1/7/2020 to 19/7/2020, the appointment for renewal continues to be scheduled by sending an email to the Immigration Services of the Decentralized Administrations of Attica. For more information, see our relevant announcement here.
