Electronic Appointments have now begun for the Renewal of Residence Permits

The electronic platform (e-appointment) for third country nationals of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum now has the option to schedule an appointment for the renewal of a residence permit as well as the issuance of a residence permit for minors. Until recently, the platform only had the option of booking an appointment to collect a residence permit at the Immigration Services of the Decentralized Administrations.

ΑΤΤΕΝΤΙΟΝ

  • During the electronic submission for the appointment for renewal, there is an option of changing the type of the residence permit only if the request concerns changing to the status of Long-Term Resident, Ten Years Residence or Family member of a Greek or an EU citizen. This would imply terminating your current residence permit in order to make the change.
  • For the residence permits that expired between 1/7/2020 to 19/7/2020, the appointment for renewal continues to be scheduled by sending an email to the Immigration Services of the Decentralized Administrations of Attica. For more information, see our relevant announcement here.
  • Appointments for the four procedures (to collect an expired residence permit or blue certificate in order to submit a new application, to re-issue a residence permit due to loss or theft, to submit an application for a residence permit based on having a 3-month national entry visa, beneficiaries of a residence permit/blue certificate following a court decision) continue to be scheduled by sending an email to the Immigration Services of the Decentralized Administrations of Attica. For more information see our relevant announcement here

Given the recommendation of the Immigration Services of Attica for beneficiaries and lawyers to give priority in appointments to residence permits expiring in the first half of 2020 or earlier, we express our concern about the way in which the electronic booking of appointments for renewals has begun. The apparent lack of programming and prioritization in the renewal of residence permits based on their date of expiry may create disparities and further delays.
