Submission of applications for the November 2021 exams for the acquisition of the Certificate of Knowledge Adequacy for Naturalization (PEGP)

The Ministry of Interior has put into operation since 19/07/2021 the application platform for the participation in the exams for the acquisition of Greek citizenship through the naturalization process and the platform will remain open until 05/09/2021. This application concerns only the November 2021 exams. Those who pass the exams (with a 70% correct answer rate) will receive the Certificate of Knowledge Adequacy for Naturalization (greek abbreviation: PEGP). The updated database of the topics can be found on the website of the General Secretariat of Citizenship. PEGP replaces the oral interview procedure that was in force until 31/03/2021. In other words, it is a necessary document in order to complete the examination of the naturalization files and a required document for those who wish to submit an application for naturalization.

Important!

  • The exams for PEGP will take place twice a year, in May and November of each year. Those interested may submit an application in the examination period they wish.

  • Those who have an active application for naturalization (file number in the Citizenship Department of the Ministry of the Interior) the first time they take the exam are exempt from the participation fee, which means they will not pay the 150 euros required to participate. If they do not succeed in the exams, in future applications they will pay 150 euros each time they participate, as is the case for those who have not yet applied for naturalization.

  • People with disabilities, people with learning difficulties and those over 62 years old will take the exam orally. People with disabilities will be examined in reduced topics which they can find in the database that has been uploaded on the website of the General Secretariat for Citizenship

  • Those who have successfully attended the six classes of the Gymnasium (Γυμνάσιο) and Lyceum (Λύκειο) or have completed nine classes of Primary and Secondary school or those who hold a degree/graduate/doctoral or higher education in Greek Universities, are excluded from the examination process for PEGP. For this reason, they must contact the competent Directorate of Citizenship, to which they have submitted or are about to file an application for naturalization, in order to send the necessary documents of evidence.

We remind you that the successful candidates in the previous examination period can log in to the platform to print PEGP and submit it to the relevant department.
