In July 2020, a new “Equality Works” activity was launched for the project, which is implemented under the Active citizens fund program. It is the Peer Learning activity, which, by focusing on the people seeking employment, enables them as educators of others seeking employment too. The educators, of the hard skills that they have developed through work experience, contribute essentially to the training of the participants.

Specifically, in the first Peer Learning training, Mr. M.S., the educator, asked the participants to practise Kitchen Assistant duties, and they all made cold dishes, keeping, always, the necessary distance and following protection measures.

A short training took place, prior to that, by the Εmployability Officer to Mr. M.S. concerning the presentation techniques and the communication skills that are considered to contribute to a successful training.

Between the educator and the participants there was a spirit of collaboration and fair play, whereas there were moments, where the participants added their own style in practicing the skills presented. Moreover, the team that was created expressed a particular interest in this new activity and for next trainings on other professional roles under the same project.

This activity reminds us all that we can be taught be each other, but also that there is a great need for vocational training and further development of the existing hard skills among populations of migrant and refugee backgrounds, with a view to a more direct inclusion in the labor market.
