From Monday 23/03/2020 at 6 am, a restriction on the movement of residents was imposed throughout Greece, in accordance with the State’s plan to combat the spread of the coronavirus. These measures, which were initially valid until April 6 and were extended until April 27, now they are extended again until May 4.

Instructions on how to travel:

Movements of residents for their essential needs which cannot be met otherwise are permitted only for the following reasons:

  •         To visit a pharmacy or a doctor (if this has been recommended).
  •         Going to a supermarket, mini market or other open stores with food and basic necessities (when the delivery of products to your home is not possible).
  •         To go to the bank (if online transaction is not possible).
  •         In order to help people in need.
  •         Attending a service (e.g. funeral, wedding, baptism) in accordance with the law or necessary movement of divorced or separated parents to ensure the communication with their children, in accordance with the relevant provisions.
  •         For outdoor physical exercise or to walk your pet (individually or in pairs, maintaining a distance of 1.5 meters apart).

For commuting to and from work during working hours, the certificate (type A) is provided, under the sole responsibility of the signatory (i.e. employee), by the employer or, in the case of a legal person, by the legal representative or, in the case of a freelancer or self-employed, by themselves.

For all other movements the certificate Type B applies to each individual journey and is signed by the person concerned at their own responsibility and contains the full name, date of birth, home address and time of departure, as well as the specific reason for movement.

Residents must have their ID or passport with them along with a completed form (printed or handwritten) or a confirmation SMS at each movement ready to provide in case of a check.
