Equal Work and Education for All – Equality Works, the new project of Generation 2.0 for Rights, Equality & Diversity, is following a holistic approach to equal access to work and education for all and provides support and empowerment to unemployed immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers or out of formal education or vocational education, residing in Attica and in the 15-67 age range. The goal of the project, which was launched in March 2020 and will be completed in August 2021, is to reinforce equal access of thοse populations to the labor market and to non-formal and formal education and vocational education. As part of the project, additional supporting activities will be carried out for women and unaccompanied minors aged 15-18.
More specifically, the activities that will be implemented in the framework of the project keep at their core the one-on-one Career Counselling Sessions, while the Vocational Guidance sessions are reinforced for the people seeking an educational path. At the same time, the participation of individuals in Job Readiness Groups, as well as in the Soft Skills Development Seminars is encouraged. The Informative Seminars on Labor Rights are supplemented by the Advocacy Trainings, a vital training for equal access. Finally, the Peer Learning, an innovative activity that offers the opportunity of skills development, with the beneficiaries of the Service being the instructors, every time that somebody wants to share their know-how and knowledge in a field.
Regarding self-employment, the project focuses on Women’s Social Entrepreneurship to meet the needs for education and guidance towards this direction, as well as to help develop the necessary skills in groups.
The Greek Language Courses, for beginners and intermediate level, are supportive for those who aim at entering the labor market or education, preparing them also for the Greek language certification.
Mentoring for unaccompanied minors is another innovative activity focusing on boosting their inclusion into formal education and vocational training, as well as on preventing dropouts from educational and vocational institutes.
Last but not least, this comprehensive empowerment project for individuals wishing to enter the labor market or education is inextricably linked to the “Diversity in the Workplace” activity, which supports the private sector and facilitates smooth integration into the workplace through the Network of companies and organisations supporting diversity in practice. Upon entering the Network, our supporters receive training and train others, they stay updated and active, they are open to new opportunities and innovate, they seek for employees through Generation 2.0 RED’s Career Counselling service, they reevaluate their recruitment procedure and adapt their job adverts accordingly, they promote diversity among their employees and offer them equal opportunities to act and evolve in a modern inclusive workplace.
