Generation 2.0 RED’s informative event on residence permits and the operation of the immigration services (DAM) was completed
Last week, the online informative event entitled “Residence permits and the operation of the immigration services (DAM)” organized by Generation 2.0 RED was completed. The event, which took place in three different sessions (the first one in French on 03/03, the second one in Greek on 08/03 and the third one in English on 10/03), was attended by immigrants and representatives of immigrant communities, who were informed in detail for the following topics:
1) Appointments for the residence permit for exceptional reasons in Attica
2) The extensions of residence permits and blue certificates
3) The issuance of a certificate of extension of expired residence permits with detailed registration instructions on the online platform of the Ministry
4) The operation of the immigration services (DAM) during the 2nd lockdown
The questions and the discussion, followed the presentation, revealed the strong need for information on the above issues. Other important problems faced by third-country nationals also stood out. More specifically, those who have an expired residence permit with an extension of validity face serious difficulties to travel abroad and mainly to return back to Greece. Furthermore, it is particularly problematic that both the online platform of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum and the filling form for the residence permit for exceptional reasons is available only in Greek. Finally, all the above, combined with the failure to renew residence permits for a long time, have created a prolonged feeling of insecurity.
An informative event on current issues in second generation citizenship and naturalization will be scheduled in the near future.
