“My kids are asking me ‘Where are we going daddy?’ and I respond ‘We are going to the garden’. They think we are going to a garden so they can play. ‘Where is this garden?’ and I ask them to wait until we get there. They are just kids, in the end. They don’t know where we are going. We tell them fairytales to give them hope. But it is hopeless.”
Rough images like these are the result of closed borders and the agreement of the European Union with Turkey. For months, especially since the 4th of April 2016, when this agreement about the refugee issue was put into action, we are living the complete depreciation of the asylum and the right to international protection.
