Χρονική Διάρκεια της Σύμβασης

Η διάρκεια της σύμβασης θα είναι ορισμένου χρόνου. Μετά το πέρας των πρώτων δύο (2) μηνών θα διεξαχθεί αξιολόγηση και από τα δύο μέρη και η σύμβαση δύναται να ανανεωθεί ή όχι. Σε περίπτωση αρνητικής αξιολόγησης, ο φορέας δικαιούται να μη παρατείνει τη συνεργασία, με έγγραφη ενημέρωση του εργαζόμενου. Στην περίπτωση θετικής αξιολόγησης, η σύμβαση δύναται να ανανεωθεί, αν το ίδιο επιθυμεί και ο εργαζόμενος/η , για αόριστο διάστημα.

Programme Manager – Thessaloniki – INTEREUROPEAN HUMAN AID ASSOCIATION

Overview of IHA‍

InterEuropean Human Aid Association (IHA) is a grassroots organisation providing humanitarian aid and assistance to refugees, asylum seekers and people in need. We support thousands of individuals in Northern Greece with essential relief supplies, as well as providing a space for learning, integration and building community. IHA has operated in Northern Greece since 2016 and is currently running a warehouse in Diavata and a community centre in Lagadikia. We strongly focus on providing support around the principle of dignity first. We work collaboratively and are open to building new connections, while making sure to maintain sustainable operations for our team and our target group, and remaining flexible and independent.

Background

IHA has operated in Northern Greece for nine years, building a strong network with humanitarian grassroots organisations, as well as with local actors and initiatives supporting forcibly displaced people in Europe. Today, IHA operates in Northern Greece, primarily in supply management, logistics, informal education, community building, and inclusion support. We work closely with local actors to assist people on the move to access services, develop networks, skills and tools, and move towards self-reliance and independence in their new place of residence, guided by the principle of dignity first.

Overview of the Position

Minimum commitment 6 months        To start in April 2025 / ASAP

IHA is looking to recruit a full-time Programme Manager to start in early April 2025. The Programme Manager is a key member of the Greece Management Team, acting as a focal point for local, regional and international partners, providing operational oversight, and serving as the main link between IHA’s back office and its team in Thessaloniki. The position is largely office-based. The Programme Manager contributes to the running of IHA’s projects by providing administrative and HR support, strategic guidance, organisational representation, and advisory support in the development and implementation of projects. The Programme Manager is a key contributor to the running of IHA’s operations, ensuring that projects fit in with the organisation’s objectives, and driving its further professionalisation and growth.

The Programme Manager works closely with the Logistics Manager, Project Manager and Team Manager (Thessaloniki-based, full-time), as well as the Operations Director (remote-based, part-time). IHA has a semi-flat hierarchical structure meaning that there is cooperation and dialogue across the organisation. The ideal candidate is intrinsically motivated, adaptable, passionate about the cause, and able to work on their own initiative and with limited supervision in a challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities

Human resources:

  • Act as the designated safeguarding lead for IHA’s team in Greece
  • Oversee adherence to, training on and further development of IHA’s policy framework
  • Manage and oversee the recruitment and onboarding of management positions in IHA according to safer recruitment guidelines in cooperation with the Operations Director and Greece Management Team

Partnerships:

  • Organisational representation, focal point for local, regional and international partners
  • Lead in maintaining existing relationships and identifying opportunities for collaboration
  • Administrative tasks related to partnerships including agreements and external reporting

Programmes:

  • Project evaluation, development and implementation of M&E tools
  • Lead role in ensuring safety and security of projects and team, developing risk assessments
  • Support Project Managers with the development and implementation of projects in line with organisational strategy, policies and budget
  • Contribute to formulating medium to long term strategic objectives and monitor progress in cooperation with the Operations Director and Greece Management Team

General administration:

  • Responsible for organisation’s properties including building maintenance and bills, as well as supporting the Operations Director with contract renewal
  • Liaise with lawyers, landlords and repair technicians
  • Support the Operations Director with legal and accounting responsibilities related to IHA’s Greek branch

Applicant Profile

Essential:

  • Willing to relocate to Thessaloniki, Greece
  • At least 3 years of experience in team/project management within a humanitarian aid project
  • Ability to set priorities and think strategically across the short, medium and long term
  • Able to spot opportunities for growth and quality improvement, able to solve challenges and create solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an excellent command of English
  • Greek language skills (as required for written and verbal communication with landlords, repair technicians, accountants, lawyers and the local community)

Position Objectives

Providing nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients, according to doctors’ prescriptions, protocols applied in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population.

Main Accountabilities

  • Knowing, promoting, implementing, and following up the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control, security rules and other protocols and procedures in the medical premises and ensuring high standards of hygiene of his/her working environment. Respecting medical secrets and confidentiality at all times.
  • Organizing and carrying out care and treatments according to medical prescriptions, and assisting during consultations, daily rounds and other medical procedures. Participating in health education of the patient (and family) when necessary.
  • Identifying Sexually Gender Based Violence victims and referring them to the medical team so they can receive the necessary treatment. Knowing and is aware of the importance and appropriate use of the Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) Kit
  • Ensuring patients are properly received and installed and that those with lack of autonomy are assisted, especially regarding their feeding, personal hygiene, movements and comfort. For ER and OPD nurse, ensuring triage of patients in waiting areas, wards or during emergencies, detecting the priority acute/emergency cases, carrying out first aid care and referring them to the doctor when necessary
  • Sending material to be sterilized and recuperates it from sterilization
  • Carrying out admission, surveillance and follow-up of patients (i.e. assessment of the evolution of their state of health and the identification of any emergency situation or deterioration
  • Carrying and supervising administrative procedures and documents (fill in patient’s files, forms, consumptions, statistics, registers, health files, etc.), ensuring an appropriate written/oral handover, and reporting any problematic situations and cases that may arise. Participating in data collection and keeping doctors/supervisors informed .
  • Participating in the department-related pharmacy and medical equipment control and maintenance (quality and its functioning, storage conditions, follow-up of expired drugs inventories, stock takes of medicines and material at every team changeover ensuring no material is taken out of nursing area/wards without prior authorisation, etc.)
  • Perform cleaning and minor maintenance for  biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and  protocols and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning.
  • Supervising and training nurse-aids, nutritional assistants, cleaners and other related staff under his/her supervision, ensuring teamwork and adherence to all appropriate protocols and procedures
  • Simple wounds assessment and management
  • Educating the patient in health practices according to MSF guidelines. In collaboration with HP, promote the dissemination and formulation of health messages and good practices
  • Working collaboratively with the MD to determine if additional treatments or changes in care plan are required.
  • In collaboration with MD, facilitate and organize the referral of patients to second level of care when needed
  • Helping, and supporting in triage when it is needed.
  • With the support of the Pharma Mission and MAM, assure proper pharmacy management including consumption monitoring and order preparation.

Essential Criteria

  • Essential Bachelor in Science of Nursing and license to practice in Greece

Requirements

Education

  • Medical School Graduate with a specialisation on pediatrics

Experience

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant professional work experience in paediatrics  with a focus on prevention and response to developmental issues of children and/or public health, mental health and/or parenting/family support.
  • Experience in developing and implementing tools and methodologies for early detection of developmental issues and/or family-centered care approaches is highly desirable.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training and in the capacity building of professionals, particularly paediatricians and/or other health professionals, is an asset.
  • Experience in working with digital applications or tools for health services is an asset.
  • Familiarity with multi-sectoral collaboration and experience  with government health systems  is an asset.
  • Experience with international organisations is an asset

Language Requirements

Fluency in English and Greek is required.
