From Wednesday, March 25 October 2023, those who have applied for the PEGP exams that will take place on November 5, 2023 can enter the webpage: https://exetaseis-ithageneia.ypes.gr/aitiseis/#login with their TaxisNet code, to print the Candidate’s Card, which will mention the examination center where they will be examined, as well as the time of attendance on Sunday 05/11.
On the day of the examination, the candidates must have with them the Candidate’s Card (which they need to have printed), their residence permit or the certification of the online application for its renewal or the blue certification or the EU citizen card issued by the Greek Police, and their passport (travel document) in force (all the above in their original form and not in mobile phone photos).
Examination procedure and Grading system
Candidates are considered to have succeeded in the exams if they earn 70% of the total top score, both in the examination of the Greek language, and in the examination of the other topics. A second necessary condition in order to be successful in the exams, is to achieve a percentage of 66.66% correct answers (40/60 questions) in the examination of the Greek language and 50% (20/40 questions) in the other topics.
Firstly, as far as the Greek language sections are concerned, the following apply:
In “Reading and Writing Comprehension”, candidates must answer 18 questions and write a short text. The top score for this examination is 30 points.
In “Oral Language Comprehension (Listening)” candidates must answer 10 questions and each correct answer earns 1.5 points (total top score is 15 points).
In “Oral Language Production” candidates are examined in 1 out of the 4 topics selected (by answering introduction questions and engaging in communication-problem resolving activities through the use of photos), and the correct answers earn 15 points.
The total top score that a candidate can earn in the examination of the Greek language is 60 points.
Secondly, as far as the rest of the topics -other than the Greek language- are concerned, the questions are 20 in total, with 2 points per topic, and the total top score for all of them is 40 points:
- 4 Geography questions
- 4 Culture questions
- 6 History questions
- 6 Political Institutions questions
Order and Duration of the Examination
The examination begins with the written examination in all the topics which lasts for 150 minutes.
After this, there is a break for 15 minutes.
Then, follows the “Oral Language Comprehension (Listening)” examination, which lasts from 12 to 15 minutes.
Finally, the “Oral Language Production” examination takes place, which lasts up to 15 minutes.
Therefore, according to the scheduling of the General Secretariat of Citizenship, the total examination time will not exceed 195 minutes, i.e. 3 hours and 15 minutes.
Examination for the Special Categories of Candidates
People over the age of 62, people diagnosed with learning disabilities and people suffering from upper limb spasticity are examined orally in Special Examination Centers. These candidates are examined in the same subjects, order and duration of examination as those falling under the general category, except for the examination of the subject of oral language comprehension and production.
Persons with a physical disability of more than 67% are examined in a specific curriculum created by a special Scientific Committee. The said curriculum may not be less than one fifth (1/5) of the topics that constitute the Item Bank. This specific curriculum is also published in the Item Bank. Their oral examination in the Greek language concerns only the oral language comprehension and production. They are also examined orally in a total of ten questions in the four other subjects: 3 questions of history, 3 questions of political institutions, 2 questions of geography and 2 questions of culture. The preparation time for each subject is 45 to 120 minutes, while the oral test time lasts up to thirty (30) minutes. In particular, for persons with a physical disability of more than 67% belonging to the category of deaf or mute-deaf, the oral examination will be carried out in the presence of a sign language interpreter that is offered free of charge.
