Generation 2.0 RED is looking for a Communications Officer who will have the overall management of the organization’s communication channels, will be responsible for designing a strategy for the promotion of the organization as well as the impact of the project. The selected Communications Officer will work closely with all departments.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with the administration to develop and implement an effective communication strategy based on the target audience.

Lighthouse Relief provides humanitarian relief to refugees and asylum seekers in Greece in a dignified, respectful, and participatory manner. Since our early days responding to the emergency needs of people arriving on the Aegean island of Lesvos, our services have evolved to meet shifting needs and circumstances. Today our activities revolve around two programmatic pillars: 1) long term psychosocial support for children, youth, and people with particular vulnerabilities living in refugee camps and 2) immediate emergency assistance for people experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, or otherwise precarious situations in Athens. Lighthouse Relief is a nonprofit humanitarian organisation registered in Sweden and in Greece with no political or religious affiliation.

Through the Emergency Response Programme, we strive to assess the needs of individual refugees and asylum seekers living under unsafe conditions and connect them with vital services. We distribute emergency food baskets and basic necessities, offer information and guidance through bureaucratic procedures, manage their cases, and refer them to shelters and providers of legal support, medical care, and other resources.

Position Summary

The Social Worker will play a vital role in carrying out the team’s Emergency Response to asylum seekers and refugees living under precarious conditions. The Social Worker will lead the case management, referral pathways, and follow up with people receiving support from Lighthouse Relief, other coordination with other stakeholders. S/he will support the streetwork project in conducting daily outreach and as otherwise needed other types of support. S/he will attend weekly team meetings and together with ERO, ERC and the Intercultural Mediators (ICMs), will make decisions regarding complex cases.

The Social worker will communicate important information to people being supported and will contact them in order to make decisions which might affect their legal, health, social and general situation, always taking in consideration the best interest of the person. Coordination with ICM Arabic and Farsi will be crucial for the development of the role. The social worker will work closely with ERC having clear communication, coordination, and cooperation.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate case management, perform needs assessments, and provide referrals
  • Assess and define referral pathways in order to provide holistic support
  • Identify and monitor vulnerabilities
  • Make public service, medical, and other types of appointments for beneficiaries.
  • Engage with actors/people being supported/cases and follow up
  • Update referral list every three months and contact stakeholders

Volunteers
