Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and adapt tasks to achieve projects’ goals, foreseeing and managing risks.
• Directly implement activities such as project meetings, documentation, progress reports, research support, development, and review of project outputs.
• Coordinate the implementation of projects’ tasks assigned to project partners and/or internal teams (e.g., communication, finance, translation), ensuring final delivery.
• Initiate, manage, and cultivate relations with third parties and stakeholders to ensure successful project implementation.
• Contribute to new project ideas generation and development opportunities.

Requirements:

• Academic background relevant to KMOP’s areas of work. A postgraduate degree will be considered an asset.
• At least 2 years of experience in EU-funded project management and implementation.
• Good knowledge and understanding of EU procedures and project design & management methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Greek with the ability to adapt messages according to a variety of audiences. Working level of French will be an asset.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet strict deadlines.
• Availability to travel.

Terre des hommes Foundation, a member of the International Federation Terre des hommes, is the largest international child rights NGO in Switzerland established over 60 years ago. We operate in over 35 countries with over 100 projects of development aid and emergency impacting over 3 million beneficiaries annually. In Europe our direct assistance projects, strengthening systems and advocacy activities are primarily focused in the areas of access to justice and migration. Terre des hommes has seven offices established in Europe (Albania, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine) and is also engaged in projects with partners from other European countries and beyond.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Particularly related to this position, Tdh Hellas runs child protection & child safeguarding capacity building and systems strengthening projects as well as emergency response programming according to the needs of the population. These projects aim to strengthen the protective environment of children in various environments by promoting preventative and responsive measures to child abuse, violence, exploitation and neglect and are structured around certain pillars such as: a) capacity building activities, b) establishment of child safeguarding policies & procedures, c) empowerment & awareness raising with children and d) networking and exchange of knowledge and experiences.

Working under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Project Officer will be responsible for the overall implementation of the Child Protection & Child Safeguarding projects. He/she will ensure the implementation of all project activities as set out in project documentation and the delivery of project results and outputs on-time and within scope. The Project Officer may also implement small scale interventions with diverse vulnerable populations if necessary.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management:

Under the direct supervision of Project Coordinator, the project officer will:

Key responsibilities:

1. Take lead role for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities, specifically on projects related to child protection and GBV, (trainings, workshops, policies & procedures establishment, conferences/roundtables, webinars & e-courses, etc) and delivery of outputs and results while ensuring donor and Tdh Hellas compliance guidelines are met.
2. Work closely with child protection technical staff to ensure project activities are in line with international and Greek law, standards and principles.
3. Ensure timely, quality and accurate provision of reporting inputs for internal and external reporting on a regular basis.
4. Ensure proper design of M&E tools, continuous tracking and evaluation of project’s performance in line with the Monitoring and Evaluation Framework (M&E).
5. Design, review and update relevant project tools, such as schedules, workplans, forms, databases and trackers when required.
6. Make recommendations to adjust workplan and activities as required.
7. Complete necessary logistics procedures (E.g. Procurement Plans, Purchase Requests, Stock Releases, etc.) and collaborate with the logistics department to ensure timely delivery of project goods and services.
8. Liaise with Communication & Advocacy department to ensure visibility of project activities in compliance with donor guidelines
9. Ensure timely preparation and adequate communication and liaison with all partners and stakeholders involved.
10. Maintain regular contacts and good working relationships between Tdh Hellas, project stakeholders, representatives of other organizations (state of NGOs/INGOs actors), relevant child protection networks and direct project beneficiaries, strengthening the project networking.
11. Support with needs assessments and keep the Project Coordinator informed of emerging needs on the ground.
12. Contribute to and participate in needs assessment, strategic planning, project design, in line with child protection policies and strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

Production and dissemination of material

• Creates original content and/or overseas the production of new material and/or ensures translation of existing operational communication material for press and web site use (press releases, statements, advisories, op-ed pieces, memos, briefings, message guidance, and fact sheets)
• Is responsible for dissemination of MSF work (in both online and offline media outlets,) liaising with Greek Media in order to ensure maximum coverage
• Is responsible for the dissemination of MSF related information internally (MSF office, Board of Directors, spokespersons)
• Ensures that press content Is in line with the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion principles and guidelines of MSF
• Evaluates MSF International Communication Material and elaborates for press use
• Collaborates with external providers and third parties for the production of audiovisual material for press use
• Promotes and monitors MSF advertising campaigns in Greek media (TV & radio spots, printed inserts)
• Promotes organizes and/or makes interviews with Greek expatriates and MSF spokespeople for media or MSF use
• Participates in briefings/ debriefings sessions with expats for communication purposes
• Is a member of the MSF magazine editorial team

Media Relations Management

• In collaboration with the Fundraising & Communications Director, participates in Public Relations activities, proactively reaching out to media channels, proposing media networking activities, undertakes the networking with journalists and key actors with the media as well as with celebrities/influencers to ensure media sponsors
• Handles all media requests for MSF GR (national and international)
• Organizes press conferences, press briefings and press PR activities
• Acts as a spokesperson when necessary

Media Strategy and Identification of Media opportunities

• Under the guidance of the Fundraising and Communications Director develops the organization’s media strategy and contributes to the development of the overall communications strategy
• Monitors media trends, identifies opportunities (scanning/reading) of diffusing information and proposes future actions
• Identifies and shares innovative new ideas for promoting MSF initiatives and work

Planning, organizing, reporting and Press Office activities

• Briefs spokespeople, provides all necessary information on MSF activities and arranges their media training
• Is responsible for accurate and regular reporting of press activities
• Monitors the Press Office expenses
• Collaborates with the Field Comms Teams in Greece for the production and dissemination of relevant content
• Participates in a 24 hour on call service for media and proposes communication actions

• Postgraduate studies in Media, journalism, humanitarian communications or relative field will be considered a plus

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

• University degree in Social Work from an accredited academic institution with minimum two years of work experience.
• Master’s degree in above fields an advantage.
• Licensed Social Worker.
• Membership with the Association of Greek Social Workers would be an advantage.

Experience and Skills

• Minimum three years previous work experience in a similar role;
• Familiar with direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees;
• Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment;
• Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise correspondence, including formal/ official reports and project narrative reports;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting;
• Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills;
• Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles;
• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to keep deadlines;
• Computer literacy in standard software applications (MS Word, MS Excel) is mandatory.

Languages

Fluency in English and Greek (written and oral) is required.
