 Role Description

  • Together with our other team members, you will be running, promoting and organising workshops with refugees that teach people about the asylum system, the EU Turkey deal, family reunion and legal systems in other EU countries.
  • You will also be involved in photography and film-making to reveal the situation facing refugees in Greece and to advocate for social change.
  • Once trained, competent and comfortable, you will start to run, promote and organise workshops with refugees on digital literacy and citizen journalism, encouraging and supporting people to carry out their own citizen journalism projects.
  • You will be speaking with camp residents socially in order to understand issues of the camp.
  • You will be communicating with other volunteers and groups with a view to mutual support.
  • You will be updating social media – reaching out to refugees digitally.

Requirements

  • Native or Fluent speaker of Farsi/Arabic/Kurmanji, with a good level of English.

  • Very close experience of the difficulties facing refugees in Europe and a proven ability to empathise.

Greek Speaking Islands Co-ordinator- Samos- REFUGEE INFO BUS

Outline of key duties:

  • Driving the Info Bus to and from various camps each day.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest news, changes in policies and laws that will affect refugees.
  • Negotiate access to camps with both governments and NGOs.
  • Attending co-ordination meetings with municipalities, NGO’s and the grassroots movement Communication with other volunteers and groups with a view to mutual support.
  • Updating social media in Greek and in English.

Key Requirements

  • Fluency in Greek and English.
  • Experience in managing projects.
  • EU Drivers licence
  • Knowledgeable about Greek Law, European Law and Greek Politics.

Responsibilities:

  • The Security Focal Point will facilitate the process of ensuring that all relevant security documents and procedures have been established within the delegation in accordance with the Federation’s Minimum Security Requirements (MSR’s).
