Two positions – Athens – FREE MOVEMENT SKATEBOARDING  

Background of the Project
Free Movement Skateboarding provide skateboarding workshops for displaced and local communities with an aim to promote gender equality, social inclusion and physical and mental wellbeing. At full capacity, we run 9 sessions a week including a dedicated Women’s Program; engaging people of 18 different nationalities with 44% women’s participation overall. In the future, we hope to run our own public skatepark and youth centre in downtown Athens to provide a safe space for our developmental programs.

Free Movement are seeking to fill two roles in the coming months. Our flexible approach allows us to distribute tasks in reflection of the skills and interests of individual team members. In this way, the role we are offering is broad and we ask you to specify a number of specific areas you think you could contribute the most to.

We specifically welcome applications from women, migrants and Greeks to make our team as diverse as the people we teach.

You do not have to be a skateboarder to work at Free Movement, we are far more concerned about your capacity to interact with vulnerable young people in an appropriate and sensitive way. However, if you are a skateboarder, your contribution to teaching sessions will be greatly valued!

The Position

Applicants must be able to fulfill a majority of the following criteria and specify any number of areas they feel are of expertise for them. Please specify the areas you feel you would be strongest in your cover letter in detail. We will select two candidates with complementary skills to each other and our team.

Practical roles
Sessional leader: confident to teach skateboarding, to communicate with young people appropriately and sensitively across language barriers.
Has a driver’s licence and is confident to drive our Renault Trafic 2010 van.
Maintenance of the van, organising repairs at mechanics if necessary. Skateboard, ramp and protection maintenance, keeping our participants safe through maintaining high quality equipment.

Administrative roles
Digital communications – social media management (Facebook and Instagram), responding to emails, website maintenance (blog writing / general updating), newsletter writing for donor organisations and individuals on the progress of FMS
Fundraising: support in grant researching and writing, donor information tracking on Google Sheets, donor relations through digital communication.
Statistical analysis and reporting: register and interview data from sessions – inputting, tracking and analysing to contribute to monthly reports to donors and trustees.
Governance and legal: experience in policy and procedure writing, working with trustees, knowledge of Greek NGO structures and their legal requirements.

Full Time position – 40 hours per week: 10 hours sessions, 30 hours admin / meetings.
€850 per month
To join the core Free Movement team and support in at least 3 sessions per week. Sessions last 1-4 hours, start from 9am or from 5pm and are subject to change.

Requirements
Essential: Work or volunteer experience with refugees or other vulnerable populations. Experience in providing group activities with young people.
Languages: English essential. Greek, French, Farsi, Arabic, Kurdish are highly desirable.
Computer literacy: essential, must be confident using Google Drive.
Competencies: Experience working with refugees, vulnerable populations, young people, teamwork, cross cultural awareness and sensitivity, working flexibility. Administrative experience in Google Sheets, specifically managing donor databases and writing financial budgets. Google Docs writing safeguarding policies, funding applications etc.
Education: Undergraduate in social work, international development, organisational management desirable. Other qualifications relevant to working with young people and migration are very much welcomed.
