Zaatar NGO-Lawyer

Zaatar NGO is a Greek registered non-profit dedicated to helping refugees in Greece. Its primary project is the Orange House.

On the upper floor of the Orange House is a residential facility that houses up to 15 refugee women and children.

The shelter assists vulnerable women and provides them with a tailor-made approach focusing on integration and creating autonomous lifestyles.
The lower floor of the Orange House contain a community center and school open Monday through Saturday.

The community center offers language courses, health and wellness activities, support to find employment, and a daily free meal.
Our mission is to provide a safe space to serve refugees who are looking to rest, learn and grow.
Our vision is that integration works both ways. We want not only to help refugees settling in Europe,

but also to work with local communities to be involved in welcoming these new neighbors.

The Lawyer is responsible for providing legal support to the Orange House’s beneficiaries.

Duties of the Lawyer include:
• Interviews for asylum preparation
• Accompagnying vulnerable clients to their asylum interviews
• Providing basic information regarding labor rights in Greece
• Answering any other legal concerns beneficiaries can have whenever possible
• Supporting the shelter’s residents with legal issues in term of sexual harassment, divorce,
etc.
• Other duties as assigned such as paper work for the organization, representing Zaatar in
coordination meeting, etc.

OUR REQUIREMENTS
· qualified as an Attorney-at-Law in Greece (Athens Bar Association or other Bar Association
membership);
· a Master of Laws (LL.M.) or equivalent postgraduate qualification from a prominent, well-acclaimed University in Greece or abroad;
· prior work experience with refugee and migrant populations
· an excellent command of Greek and English;
· computer literacy.
Preferred skills:
· ability to work with minimal supervision.
· knowledge of French/Farsi/Arabic is a plus.

  • The interims will either work under the supervision of EASO or will be seconded and work under the supervision of the Greek authorities in performing some or all of the following tasks:
