Humanitarian Field

Greek Language Teacher- Athens- Khora Community Center

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver Greek language classes to adults of ranging capabilities.
  • Provide individualized instruction to each student, promoting interactive learning
  • Create and distribute educational content (notes, summaries, assignments etc.)
  • Assess and record students’ progress and provide grades and feedback
  • Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom and support the cleaning of the education space in
    general
  • Collaborate with other teachers and stakeholders as well as participating in regular
    weekly meetings with the education team at Khora, the G4BF coordinator and the G4BF
    team.
  • Observe and understand students’ behavior and psyche and tailor teaching methods
    accordingly
  • Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars and
    training suggested by the centre and G4BF
  • Follow the codes of conduct set out by both Khora and G4BF

Requirements

  • Experience teaching Greek as a second language
  • Experience working with refugees and/or migrants
  • Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the centre policies and procedure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Degree in teaching or in a specialized subject with a certificate in education

This summarises the main responsibilities of the role but there may be other reasonable
requests made and other responsibilities included from time to time.

This is a self employed role and will be paid monthly, on presentation of an invoice. You will
be contracted for 3 months at a rate of 1050 euros for 37.5 hours work per week. A rough
daily break down would be 4 hours teaching, 2 hours planning lessons and then 2 hours for
other work including meetings, student support etc.

Interpreter- Farsi- Greek for Accompaniment Programme- Thessaloniki, North Greece- International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC)

The main role is to: Interpret between the beneficiary in his/her language into Greek and vice versa
for accompaniment referral services related to healthcare.
Duties:

  • Inform his/her team, the healthcare staff and other stakeholders about important cultural
  • nuances to consider during a meeting, medical consultation or interview
  • Participate in staff trainings and meetings as a cultural mediator
  • Translate documents and project materials into Farsi whenever needed

Requirements for the Role:

  • Required: Fluently spoken and written Farsi and Greek. English will be an asset.
  • Educated to degree level and/or can demonstrate equivalent intellectual capacity
  • Strong communication skills (written and spoken) in Farsi and Greek.
  • Good attention to detail
  • Experience within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement or other Humanitarian Organizations will be preferred
